We are excited to welcome you to the Butte College community! During Orientation, you'll explore campus, connect with the financial aid team, and register for classes with an academic counselor. Orientation is all about setting you up for a successful start at Butte College!

If you’ve earned a degree from another school, or have personal circumstances that make it hard to make it to campus, you could be eligible for our Online Orientation! Students who complete Online Orientation for the Winter/Spring 2026 semesters will be able to register on November 25th.

Or, you can click on the .ics meeting invite file attached to your confirmation email and use the link in the description to edit/cancel your registration.

ABOUT ORIENTATION AT BUTTE COLLEGE

• Location: We offer Orientation on all our campuses, including Main Campus, and the Chico and Glenn Centers!
• Time: Depending on the day, Orientation is offered in the morning, afternoon, or evenings.
• Duration: Orientation typically lasts 2 and a half hours. You must attend the entirety of the session to receive credit.
• Guests: Guests may join us for the Welcome portion of our Orientation, and are encouraged to join a dedicated presentation to introduce them to Butte College!
  • To honor student privacy under FERPA, the advising and course registration portion of Orientation is reserved for students only.

Who needs to attend Orientation?

All new students are required to complete Orientation. You will not be able to register for your classes until you attend an orientation session.

You are exempt from Orientation if you are:

• Concurrent or Dual Enrollment -  Students currently enrolled in elementary, junior or senior high school participating in concurrent or dual enrollment are exempt from Orientation.
• Enrolling in Specific Courses or Terms - Students enrolling in the following are exempt from Orientation:
  • • Enrolling in a Winter or Summer session only. 
    • Enrolling in performance, activity or noncredit courses only (Exempt Class List).
    • Enrolling in one or two non-exempt classes and do not intend to obtain a certificate or degree. Students in this category will register during the Open Registration period which typically is the week prior to the start of the semester.  Please refer to the Admissions and Records webpage for Times to Register.

What to do before attending orientation

Before attending Orientation, ensure you have completed all the following:

1. Submitted a Butte College Application through CCCApply for the semester you intend to enroll in.
   
   
2. Check if you received an email from Butte College with your student information, such as your ID number, student email address, and password.
   • If you did not receive this email, contact Student Tech Support at (530) 895-2925 or email StudentTechSupport@victoriada.com.
3. Access to your Butte College Portal – Self- Service.
   • If you have not logged in to your BC Portal yet, please be aware that your initial password will expire. This will require you to reset your password, which may delay your access to your account. We recommend logging in as soon as possible to avoid any interruptions.
